"The ocean is more than a place—it’s a pulse, a rhythm, a force that shapes life itself. To explore it is to understand it; to protect it is to protect our future.

Marine Scientist | Photographer | Filmmaker | Conservation Advocate

Michelle combines science, photography, and film to tell powerful, authentic stories about the ocean. With a career spanning marine science, fisheries management, and ecotourism development, she has worked across some of the world’s most remarkable seascapes—from Western Australia’s Houtman Abrolhos Islands to the vibrant reefs of the Coral Triangle.

Her scientific expertise, grounded in marine science and a Master of Research currently in progress, focuses on species recovery, climate resilience, and sustainable marine management. Her growing portfolio of photography and cinematography ensures every image and sequence reflects real conservation challenges and priorities.

In the field, Michelle captures moments that bridge science and storytelling—from documenting the behaviour of Australian sea lions on remote island colonies to producing cinematic visuals for ecotourism, community engagement, and environmental protection. Her work aims to inspire action, connect people to fragile marine environments, and advocate for their long-term protection.

In 2025, she continued the dedicated research on the endangered Australian sea lion, focusing on the species’ northernmost breeding colony at the Houtman Abrolhos Islands. The project explores the unique ecological pressures facing this isolated population and contributes to urgently needed conservation science.

Through the lens and in the field, Michelle’s mission is simple: protect, share, and celebrate the ocean.
